SUNDAY MORNING SERVICE
Acts18:18 - 19:10
July 26th
Psalm 119: 103-104
How sweet are your words to my taste,
sweeter than honey to my mouth!
I gain understanding from your precepts;
therefore I hate every wrong path.
Pray before you start that God would speak and you would hear him.
Acts 18

Consider & Pray
Strengthened through Scripture
Pray for a renewed vigor to dig deep into God's word. Pray that the Holy Spirit would make the word come alive and that you would grow in hunger to see Jesus on every page.
Corrected through Love
How challenged are you by the love and actions of Pricilla and Aquilla? Do we need to ask forgiveness for the times that we have judged before we have loved?
Think about practical ways you can share the knowledge you have of Jesus. As we start to meet up in our ones and twos out and about, let's commit to sharing with each other the wonders of God's grace to us. Let us encourage one another to look to God and remember his great mercies.
Defended through Doctrine
Reading through Psalm 119 is a real challenge not because it is the longest chapter in the Bible, but we see the Psalmist's great love of God's word and theology, in verse 55 he says:
I reflect at night on who you are, O Lord;
therefore, I obey your instructions.
How much more has God revealed to us? How much more can we reflect on his gracious love and wonder at His great character and attributes?
Tim Gough has made a great video this week highlighting the importance of Theology.

Children's Challenge
Song to Start -
It's a light and a hammer
We learn today that God's word is so important as it tells us all about Jesus, what better song to remind us of that than 'it's a light and a hammer'!
Activity 1 - Sharing
Read the story in Acts 18:24-27
We see in this story a clever man called Appolos, but he was missing some important information about God. However, Pricilla and Aquilla loved him enough to invite him to their house and help him understand the Bible fully. What do you know about that you could share with others in the Church? Could you make a poster or write a postcard to someone to tell them something great about God?

Activity 2 - God's Word is like a light.
In much of the story today people were hearing or teaching about Jesus. They used the Bible all the time to find out more about Jesus. This is how God shows himself to people through his word. In the Psalms, it says: "Your word is a lamp to our feet and a light to my path" Ps 119:105
Today you could try to make a lantern with these words on it to remind you.
You could either make a Paper Lantern vid*
or
You could try a Jam Jar lantern and decorate it however you like.
