SUNDAY MORNING SERVICE
30th May
Hebrews
13:6-19
We encourage you to spend some time in prayer and ask God to speak to you this morning through his word.
Consider & Pray
1 Peter 5
5 To the elders among you, I appeal as a fellow elder and a witness of Christ’s sufferings who also will share in the glory to be revealed: 2 Be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your care, watching over them—not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not pursuing dishonest gain, but eager to serve; 3 not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock. 4 And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that will never fade away.
5 In the same way, you who are younger, submit yourselves to your elders. All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because,
“God opposes the proud
but shows favor to the humble."
6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. 7 Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you

Sheep!?
What do you know about sheep ?
I do know that they need a lot of care, they are not very good at looking after themselves and often get in to trouble.
Sheep LOVE grass, it must be so tasty for them. Imagine walking around finding your favourite sweets on the ground and they are everywhere!
Sometimes their love of grass gets them into all sorts of problems because they will bash through fences, or climb up cliffs thinking they will find better, rather than enjoy the lovely green grass the shepherd has already given them.
Read this together
12 ‘What do you think? If a man owns a hundred sheep, and one of them wanders away, will he not leave the ninety-nine on the hills and go to look for the one that wandered off? 13 And if he finds it, truly I tell you, he is happier about that one sheep than about the ninety-nine that did not wander off. 14 In the same way your Father in heaven is not willing that any of these little ones should perish. NLT
Wow! What do you think of that? God says that we are a bit like sheep - we get lost too, and make mistakes, and he comes to find us.
Jesus is the good Shepherd who calls his sheep to follow Him, will you listen and follow Jesus?
