Matthew 28:19-20
19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Get set, Go!
When was the last time you were in a race?
How did you know when to start? Did you hear someone say: On your marks, get set, go?
In the olympics they have a starting pistol that makes a big BANG!
Well the passage that we looked at today finishes of this letter of Hebrews. The writer has said a lot of things and he wants all those who have listened to now get, set and go - and then keep going.
He says:
"20 Now may the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, 21 equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen."
Heb 13
What he wants his readers and listeners to do now is GO, GO GO!
If our lives follow Jesus we are a bit like the song at the beginning; like a ship that has set sail in a storm, we need to follow the light of Jesus who shines like a lighthouse.
This is why the writer of Hebrews says at the end: "Grace be with you all". He wants all of us as listeners to keep going and keep our eyes on Jesus and what he has done, a little like when you run a race and keep striding forward with your eyes on the finish line.
Ask God to help you to get set and go - and keep your eyes fixed on Jesus
Activity 1
Get a stopwatch and get ready ... and see how fast you can...
-
Tie your shoe laces
-
Run the length of your garden
-
Write the alphabet
-
Make a boat out of Lego
.... Now how about seeing if you can beat your time!
Activity 2
Can you draw, or make a "Go" sign or a 'traffic light' that is on green? As you are making it and drawing it, think about how God does not give us things to stand still but, to go and keep going. We should not only listen to what God tells us but make sure we do it too.
