SUNDAY MORNING SERVICE
Acts 14
June 7th
“The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure hidden in the field, which a man found and hid again; and from joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field. “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking fine pearls, and upon finding one pearl of great value, he went and sold all that he had and bought it.
Consider & Pray
2 Cor 4: 7 But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us. 8 We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; 9 persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed;
-
Spend some time contemplating the great treasure of knowing Jesus. What is it that we can learn from Paul in the passage we looked at today, of the importance of understanding the good news of Jesus?
-
Are there times in your life you lack boldness to share the hope you have in Jesus? Spend some time in prayer asking the Holy Spirit to fill you with the joy and confidence of knowing Jesus, and to fill you with boldness to proclaim the truth.
- We saw in the text this morning of the huge importance of the Church and how God has established it to support us in our faith. Ask God to heal any wounds that may have been caused in the past and develop in your heart a deeper, richer love for your brothers and sisters in Christ.
- Ask God to use you to strengthen and encourage the church, that He would help you to support others to remain true to the faith.

Let us also pray not only for the situation in America but remember the fact that this gospel message is for the whole world. That each man, women, and child is made in the image of God and that we would not show any partiality or favoritism, that we would be a people that reflect the love of our saviour
If you want a recap of the first few chapters of Acts here is a helpful video from the www.bibleproject.com site

We will send around a video of us doing the actions via the church families WhatsApp group.
Activity 1 - God's Family Tree
In this morning's passage we hear that God gives us a very special family so that we can encourage each other and remind each other of how amazing our God is. Talk together about God's family and how big it is, it includes people we know and people that live in faraway places who we have never met. Make a family tree out of twigs and decorate it with pictures/photos/names of people who are also in God's family.

Activity 2 - Post It!
In Acts 14 it is quite clear that being a Christian isn't alway easy. Talk together as a family about how if can be very difficult to be a Christian in some countries around the world. Wouldn't it be lovely to encourage these members of God's family? Open Doors have put together some resources to help us do just that, can you draw a picture to encourage children in other places to keep trusting in Jesus even when things are hard. You can find a guide for drawing pictures or writing letters to Christians in other countries here
Please follow the instructions carefully as they are different for each of the countries mentioned. We'd love to see your photos and letters too.
Book - If you have a copy of "God's very Good Idea" from The Good Book Company this would be a great book to read with younger ones to think about how many people are in God's family and how different we all are.
